What should I expect in my initial consultation?

Your initial consultation provides us with the foundation needed to enable us to plan ongoing care to support you through your menopause journey.

Its purpose is to:

Determine what you would like from the appointment
Assess any current symptoms or concerns
Take a full, detailed past medical history
Take a relevant family history
Discuss other causes for the symptoms you are experiencing
Discuss further testing if necessary
Discuss personalised treatment options
Provide a personalised plan of care
Provide support, education and relevant resources

During this consultation there will be ample time for you to talk freely about any concerns you may have, ask questions and get to know your Menopause Specialist. Following your initial consultation, we may need to contact your GP to advise them of your plan of care.

How To Prepare For Your Initial Consultation

To help you to prepare for your initial consultation please consider the following:

Keeping a symptom diary can help you to remember what you need to mention in your consultation.
Track any changes to your menstrual cycle.
Any personal medical history or family history you think we may need to know about, especially breast cancers, genetic conditions, osteoporosis or heart disease.
Any medications you are taking. Include prescribed medications, over the counter supplements and herbal remedies.
Make a list of questions you would like to ask us at your consultation
If you do not fully understand anything discussed please ask for clarification
